National Leadership and Skills Conference

Congratulations to 2018 State Medalists!

The National Conference will be held on June 25-29, 2018 in Louisville, KY.

Shuttle Information for TN PS Meetings:

Monday Night Meeting 6:00 pm (5:30 pm Bus departure) Travel Attire, KEC South Wing B104: There will be transportation provided from our the Sheraton Four Points on Monday to the Kentucky Exposition Center for our state meeting. We will have five (5) buses scheduled to depart from the front of the FourPoints Sheraton hotel at 5:30 pm for our delegation. The buses will bring us back to the hotel after the meeting and testing are completed. 

Tuesday night Group Photo & Opening Ceremony, Official Dress: 5:45 pm Group Photo in front of KEC Freedom Hall entrance followed by Opening Ceremony. Attendees should wear TN Polo and black or khaki pants.

Friday Night Award Celebration, Official Dress: (immediately following Awards Ceremony at approximately 9:15 pm),  KEC South Wing C203: Shuttle Buses will run extended hours, between 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm to provide service for our states’ Awards and Recognition on Friday night.

Résumé Requirement
All competitors must create a one-page hard copy résumé and submit this to the contest committee chair at the contest orientation. Failure to do so will result in a 10 point penalty. Competitors can bring a résumé to the contest on the day of competition however, the penalty will remain in effect.

Contest Official Dress Requirements: Contestants must be in “Official Dress” as outlined in the 2016-17 Technical Standards for each contest. Click HERE to view "Official Contest Dress" poster. Reminder to contestants about OSHA regulations when consulting "official dress". If your contest area is in an industry that would require additional protective equipment like steel toe boots, safety glasses, etc...per OSHA regulations then your judges will expect you to wear/bring appropriate footwear/protective devices for your competition.

TAG Tuesday  (the ultimate delegate training experience)

College/Postsecondary Registration for TAG Tuesday - Reminder that all college/postsecondary students can register for TAG Tuesday (not just voting delegates). Incredible activities are planned for college/postsecondary members so they can excel in their chosen careers. Students will take the Gallup StrengthsFinder Assessment - free - and they will be interviewed by business and industry partners from their selected program/career area.

Individuals will be contacted after registration has closed with a login and PIN to take the StrengthsFinder assessment.

Once again, SkillsUSA will broadcast the pre-event activities and the entire opening and awards ceremonies online from the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville from the Freedom Hall Arena. This streaming video will give family, friends and sponsors the opportunity to review the keynote speakers and see students as they received their awards. Please pass the word to your advisors, students and family of conference attendees.
